Unboxing
The Lenovo Xiaoxin Pad Pro 12.7 (2025) arrives in a stylish box with prominent Xiaoxin and Lenovo branding on the front. As this is the Chinese version, the back of the box features some specifications in Chinese. Inside, you'll find a 45W fast charger and a Type-C cable.
Display
The Xiaoxin Pad Pro boasts a stunning 12.7” ultra-high-definition LCD display with a 144Hz refresh rate and a resolution of 2944 x 1840. Whether for work or leisure, the screen quality is impressive, with vibrant colors, clean and crisp visuals, and adequate brightness for both indoor and outdoor use. However, the display tends to have glare and reflections, which can be distracting. Adding a matte screen protector could enhance the experience significantly.
Chipset
Equipped with an 8-core, high-performance MediaTek Dimensity 8300 chip, this tablet runs smoothly, handling multiple apps simultaneously without any issues. The variant I got has 8GB RAM and 256GB storage. Multitasking is seamless, and even demanding games run efficiently.
Speakers
The tablet features four JBL speakers, with two on each side when held horizontally. The audio quality is impressive, delivering clean sound, fantastic clarity, and sufficient volume for movies, games, and music.
Battery Life
The tablet houses a 10,200mAh battery, offering excellent optimization for app handling. During prolonged use, there's no dramatic battery drain. For instance, writing this review on Google Docs for an hour reduced the battery by only 1%.
Software
Running on Lenovo’s ZUI 16 OS and Android 14 out of the box, everything defaults to Chinese unless properly set up initially. Fortunately, English is an option during setup. Though preloaded with Chinese apps, they can be removed or disabled. Google apps are not pre-installed and need manual installation.
Key Features of ZUI 16 OS
Two standout features in the ZUI 16 OS are PC Mode and Smart Connect. PC Mode transforms the UI to a laptop-like orientation, while Smart Connect allows seamless interaction with multiple devices like smartphones and computers.
You can also stream apps directly to your computer and send large files over the network with ease—crucial for managing large files for work.
Accessories
My decision to purchase this tablet also factored in support for a keyboard (with stand / case) and pen (stylus / pencil). My experience with the Lenovo Magnetic Keyboard and Lenovo Pencil has been positive, though I'll cover them in more detail in another review.
Final Thoughts
At approximately $350, the Lenovo Xiaoxin Pad Pro 12.7 (2025) is emerging as one of the best tablets on the market. However, since it’s not yet released globally, it must be imported from China, which might complicate warranty claims. Despite this, it stands as my best purchase this year.
